Have you ever heard the song “Counting My Blessings” by Seph Schlueter? (Here’s a link if you haven’t: https://youtu.be/aZjWYgq9QfM?si=7cRdqj8Q7LoOXvi1)It’s saved on my music playlist, and I enjoy listening to it often. It helped inspire the theme for this blog—especially fitting for this time of year as we approach Thanksgiving.
Every day, it’s so important to practice gratitude and recognize the role it plays in our lives—not just one day or one month, but every month and every year. Do you start your mornings by naming something you're grateful for? What about before bed—do you reflect on one thing you were thankful for that day?
During this season of thankfulness, here are just a few aspects and moments in life you might can count as blessings:
A home, no matter the size
A family—whether you're born into it, adopted, or have found one along the way
Nature and the peace it can bring
The cozy warmth of fall weather
Fun, friendship, and the memories that come with them
Faith—whether it’s in something greater, in others, or in society
Simply being alive, and the ability to smile
Thoughtful gifts—whether handmade or surprise gestures
Pets of any kind
Traditions and treasured moments
Not just the changing weather, but the seasons of life
Joy and laughter
Food—and the ability to smell baked goods, desserts, and fresh coffee
Lighthearted happiness
Music—and the ability to enjoy and express your artistic side
Kindness, compassion, and having a mentor or someone to look up to
After many November mornings spent reflecting over coffee—and maybe even while listening to this song—what is one blessing you're specifically counting this Thanksgiving?
