June — J.O.E. JUNE
Journal Often, maybe Everyday
When do I feel most at ease — and how can I invite more slowness, even in the small act of savoring each sip?
Do you know where the phrase “Cup of Joe” came from? I didn’t — so I looked it up.
One theory suggests it comes from U.S. Navy Secretary Josephus “Joe” Daniels, who banned alcohol aboard Navy ships in 1914. As a quiet rebellion, sailors turned to coffee and began calling it their “Cup of Joe.” Another theory says it simply refers to the average Joe — coffee being the everyman’s drink.
Either way, June is our time to get back to the basics, the beginning.
For me, peace lives within the outdoors — camping, fishing, or simply walking through the trees. I savor those moments. I go to them in my mind when life feels loud. And sometimes, just journaling brings me back to those moments of calmness.
I’ve journaled since I was young — first about frustrations, then about life, now with intention. Sometimes it's morning affirmations, other times an evening prayer. And often, it’s just a space to empty out what’s inside.
This month, I’m inviting more of that gentle slowness.
More space. More breath. More sips. More silence. More journaling.
When do you feel most at ease? How can you invite that rhythm into more of your life — one slow, mindful moment at a time?
